Everything You Need for a Gluten-Free Thanksgiving (a survival guide!)

Hi Reader!

Happy Thanksgiving week! I know this time of year can feel a little overwhelming when you're navigating the holiday gluten-free, so I wanted to send you some love, some recipes, and a big thank you.

A Note of Gratitude

I've been reading your comments on my blog, email and Tiktok lately, and so many of you have been making my recipes (especially my bread recipes) and have mentioned that I've made celiac disease bearable for you again. There have been so many comments of those who gave up on yeasted recipes but found mine to be like they remember pre-diagnosis. I want you to know that I don't take that for granted—not even for a second. The fact that you trust me and my recipes means everything to me.

I test every single recipe extensively because I know what's at stake. It's not just about making something taste good (though that's important too!)—it's about keeping you safe and making sure you can enjoy food without worry. Thank you for being here, for trying my recipes, and for letting me be part of your gluten-free journey.

Your Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Recipes

Whether you're cooking the whole meal or just bringing a dish to share, here are some of my favorite gluten-free Thanksgiving recipes to help you out:

Gluten‑Free Gravy

Smooth, savory gravy made with just 6 ingredients - works with turkey drippings or broth!

Gluten-Free Dinner Rolls

Soft, fluffy, and perfect for soaking up gravy. These rolls taste like the real deal—no one will know they’re gluten-free.

Gluten-Free Cheddar Drop Biscuits

Cheesy, savory drop biscuits with fresh rosemary and black pepper - ready in under 30 minutes with no rolling required!

Gluten‑Free Cornbread Stuffing

One-bowl, 25-minute muffins filled with apple pieces and warm cinnamon flavor. Perfect for a grab-and-go breakfast or snack. Plus, these ones are vegan, too!

Gluten-Free Pie Crust

Incredibly flaky and easy to roll out. This foolproof crust works for both sweet and savory pies!

Gluten-Free Purple Sweet Potato Pie

Vibrant purple sweet potato filling with warm spices and a fluffy marshmallow meringue. A beautiful twist on the classic!

Gluten-Free Caramel Apple Cheesecake Bars

These bars start with a buttery shortbread crust, then get topped with a smooth cheesecake layer, spiced apples, and a crumbly topping. A drizzle of salted caramel brings it all together.

Gluten-Free Pumpkin Focaccia

Soft, fluffy focaccia infused with pumpkin and topped with herbs. Perfect for soaking up all that gravy!

Cranberry Jalapeño Cream Cheese Dip

A little sweet, a little spicy, and always a crowd pleaser. This is the easiest holiday appetizer—you can make it ahead, and it vanishes fast.

Tips for a Stress-Free Gluten-Free Thanksgiving

1. Be First in Line
If dinner is buffet-style, serve yourself first to avoid cross-contamination from shared utensils.

2. Ask About the Turkey
If you didn’t make it, ask whether it was stuffed. A gluten-stuffed turkey = unsafe drippings throughout the meat.

3. Bring Your Own Dish (or Two)
Never rely on safe options being available. Bring one or two things you love so you know you can eat confidently.

4. Watch the Gravy
Most gravies use flour. Ask how it’s made—or bring your own. Gluten-free gravy is quick, safe, and just as delicious! And for anything else you might need a roux for, I show you how to make a gluten-free roux here!

5. Check Your Sides for Hidden Gluten
Stuffing, casseroles, broths, and even mashed potatoes can have sneaky gluten. When in doubt, ask… or bring a safe version. If a dish feels questionable, skip it. No dish is worth feeling awful for a week.

6. Protect Your Plate
Once you serve yourself, keep your plate away from bread baskets, crumbs, and passed-around spoons to avoid accidental contamination. Nothing worse than the bread basket being passed over your plate and getting crumbs on your gluten-free meal.

7. Make It Special
The first Thanksgiving after my celiac diagnosis, my mom made a separate GF meal for me—and it meant everything. This year my family plans on doing a 100% gluten-free Thanksgiving meal, even though out of 10 people, I'll be the only gluten-free one. Create your own traditions or make one dish that feels joyful and comforting.

What's on Your Menu?

I'd love to hear what you're making this year! Are you trying any new recipes? Sticking with the classics? Reply and let me know—I love hearing from you.

Wishing you a warm, safe, and delicious Thanksgiving!

With gratitude,
Megan

Hi Reader! I'm going to be honest with you. My brain is absolute mush right now. February has that effect. The holidays are a distant memory, spring feels far away, and every night around 5pm I stare into the fridge like it owes me an explanation. If you're in the same late-winter fog, I've got you. Here are five of my easiest, most comforting gluten-free dinners. These are the ones I reach for when I have zero brainpower left but still want to eat well without thinking too hard. Bacon...

Hi Reader! If you're anything like me, tomorrow is going to involve a lot of time on the couch, and I'm not mad about it. The winter games just kicked off in Italy (that opening ceremony!), the big game is tomorrow, and honestly, that's a perfectly good excuse to spend the whole day snacking. Whether you're watching figure skating, football, or flipping back and forth between both, here are six gluten-free recipes to keep your spread stocked all day long. They're easy to pull together, some...

A gluten-free donut with vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles with a bite taken out of it.

Hi Reader! Remember my enriched yeast dough I used in my gluten-free dinner rolls? Well, I fried it. These gluten-free fried donuts are light, pillowy, and taste like real yeasted donuts. Not baked cake donuts in a pan. Actual fried donuts like you'd get at Dunkin, but better. This is the same base as my cinnamon rolls, crescent rolls and dinner rolls, so if you loved those, you're going to love these too. Finish with thick vanilla glaze and sprinkles, or keep it simple and toss in sugar...
